Training log

Aiki with Kel
  • Tegatana with particular emphasis on the second half - the turns
  • Hanasu
  • Randori building on the R1→R1 pattern we have been playing with lately.  We got into a R1↔ R2 branch of that pattern and found that there is a rhythm to the thing.  If, for instance you do R2 a little too wide, when you hit the end of the line, it will whip uke back onto you.  From here the dynamic is such that you can do R1 immediately or, if you move with uke and wait about one beat then you can do R2 again.
  • oshitaoshi (per ichikata as last class) and udegaeshi.  We played with two flavors of udegaeshi - one when the oshitaoshi from the beginning of ichikata fails, and the other from a nijusan entry where you sling apart from uke, hit the end of the line, and either sidestep into oshitaoshi (behind uke) or udegaeshi (in front of uke)
