Lesson plans - week of 11/17/08
So, I'm still fibrillating a little bit about how to do trianing logs. I don't want to bore the majority of my readers senseless but the technical training logs are helpful to me and sometimes to my students. Here's what I'll try for the next couple of weeks to see how well it works... I'll switch from training logs posted after class to lesson plans posted early in the week, applying to all that week's classes. So, for instance, this week, we'll work on:
.
Kid's Judo
- Ukemi - forward roll, oozing over a turtle, and backfall over a turtle - all using the crash pad
- deashibarai - trying to set a trigger in their minds alond the lines of, "any time he puts a foot down in the back, sweep the front leg."
- randori - continuing getting the rules of the game ingrained and preparing for club shiai early in December.
Adult Judo
- Yellow belt technical review - particularly for Jesse & Justin and particularly working on how to do a good technical demo.
- the ippon ideal vs. sufficient proficiency
- how to self-check for ippon each time during nagekomi
- taking the fight to the ground in a dominant position
- starting defending on the way down if you are going to be the bottom man
Aikido
- White belts will be doing hanasu 1-4, two motion templates, shomenate and aigamaeate, with some emphasis on how to do a good demo
- Brown&black belts will be doing Nijusan wrist techniques - kotehineri, kotegaeshi, tenkai kotehineri, tenkai kotegaeshi, and shihonage. This group will also be working ryotedori tenchinage (gurumas as in owaza or gokata)

Thanks Pat.
Thanks for the training logs? or for not doing the training logs any more? or for weekly lesson plans?
Come on, John, Don't emulate my usual terseness or you'll end up answering all questions, "Hmmmm."
